As great as sports are, there is something that is equally important when a novel competition commences: on-field fashion.
The World Baseball Classic is nearly underway, which means it's time for an age-old tradition: Presenting completely subjective ratings in an objective way based on a writer's predispositions. The World Baseball Classic jerseys this year followed a fairly standard rubric, which means fonts and color combinations are the name of the game.
With 20 countries competing, there is no shortage of threads to compare. However, with such little variation in terms of the actual style, there's only so much to say about each of them.
With that in mind, here is the definitive, unequivocal ranking of the 2026 World Baseball Classic jerseys – unless you disagree, in which case it is just this writer's humble opinion and no one should be upset.

For reference, here are the 40 jerseys that will be on the field for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
20. Italy
Italy's home jersey is gorgeous, absolutely. The blue piping, the script "Italia," the flag, it all comes together in a beautiful way. But the blue alt. A white outline can take you a long way, but having the font color be basically the same as the jersey is rough. Maybe it will look better on the field than the mockup. But with what we have it's a tough sell. Also, the hat. YIkes
19. Israel
It's just too much blue. Minimalist color combinations work on a flag. But laying blue on blue with a white outline isn't enough. Similar to Italy, some imagination is missing. At least unlike Italy, the shades are moderately different.
18. Great Britain
No country benefitted from a rubric more than Great Britain, which had a famously terrible 2023 World Baseball Classic jersey. At least now the lettering fills out the jersey.
17. Colombia
It's simply too reminiscent of the Boston Red Sox's now-ex City Connect jerseys to be novel. While the alt jerseys are an improvement over the home ones, there just isn't a lot of thought behind the font and it makes for a rather boring jersey.
16. Canada
Using the Blue Jays font is a fine choice, but the alt jersey has the same problem as Italy's in that the color just blends right in. The bigger issue for Canada, however, is the hat. It has sort of a rad 90s look to it, just one too many elements at play. The maple leaf is so quintessentially Canadian, stripping the "C" off it would serve these jerseys just fine.
15. Brazil
Brazil didn't fall into the trap of going blue on blue in the alt jersey, but the home jersey would look better with yellow piping (albeit a bit too close to Colombia's home jersey). However, Brazil is dealing with the opposite of Canada's hat pitfall: It's just a big "B." It's very Goldilocks to accuse one hat of being messy and the next of being too simple, but there is a middle ground that can be met.
14. Czechia
Truly love the Czechian team, it's such a fun story. But the jersey leaves a lot to be desired. The Eastern Bloc may have been dissolved to end the Cold War, but block lettering is apparently alive and well, much to the detriment of these jerseys.
13. Taiwan
It's nice to see a team with a badge instead of lettering across the front of the jersey, not that Chinese Taipei would fit especially well across the front of a jersey, but there's a lack of creativity here. Just having the badge be the same on both jerseys and the hat while doing nothing but changing the colors creates kind of a bland look.

12. Nicaragua
In a way, these are a good revision of the Israel jerseys. A nice script font, blue piping on the homes, white lettering on the alts, all within the confines of a really simple color scheme. These overall look really nice, they just lack the distinctiveness of some of the other jerseys above them.
11. USA
This will probably draw the most ire, but there simply isn't much going on with these jerseys. The blue alts are a massive upgrade from the downer grays of the 2023 WBC, but this logo has been with the United States for a long time and it's time for a change. It was time for a change in 2023, and it's certainly time for one now.
10. Mexico
Kind of an inversion of the Great Britain situation, the template actually really hurt Mexico. The 2023 home jerseys had gorgeous powder blue sleeves that just really completed their look, and they had a ton of creativity in general. While these are still nice, Mexico was shackled by the burden of expectation.
9. Cuba
Who doesn't love a little script? Cuba's jerseys have a nice, simple font and the alts' red background with blue outline and white lettering ends up looking really nice. Like many of the hats, this one is a tad dated, but it completes a clean, simple look for Cuba.
8. South Korea
While not a huge re-imagination from 2023, these ones from South Korea don't need much re-imagining. An action-y font with a clean script and some classic cursive, these jerseys represent South Korea well. The only thing holding it out of the top five is a hat that would do well with a more creative logo, as the cursive K doesn't translate super well to the crown.
7. Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico is having a moment thanks to Bad Bunny's incredible Super Bowl halftime show, and the jerseys still reflect that. It has kept a similar aesthetic throughout its history in international play, but the interconnected PR on the hat is as iconic as you get among the nations competing. The runners on the side of the alternate jersey round out the look well, but the home threads with the red piping are a highlight.
6. Panama
Inevitably, your mileage is going to vary on this font. Maybe I just love serifs? I don't know, but the emphasized "P" on the jersey really works, and again, white block lettering with an outline against a contrasting background really scratches an itch. The hat looks like someone just really loves the letter P, and that's what keeps this one out of hte top five.
5. Dominican Republic
The font on these jerseys will work extremely well on people who grew up going to Cedar Point or other roller coaster theme parks. The word "Dominicana" bracketed by the enlarged "D" and "A" ends up looking good with Republica up top, but the hat is also an awesome look. Bringing the "R" to the foreground makes these hats elite. This font isn't going to work for everyone, and the Dominican Republic might not be in some people's top 15. But the look works.
4. Australia
There is a world in which Australia looks like the Australia Athletics, but they manage to avoid that with one of the most distinctive hats in the WBC. The flag's stars create such a cool accent on Australia's lids, and the jerseys are more well-rounded for it. Also, again, the yellow outline on the lettering to help it stand out from the piping only makes these jerseys more gorgeous. The green alts are also a welcome deviation for these jerseys.
3. Venezuela
If you've read this far, you know what I'm looking for. Script? Check. Outline? Check. Complementary hat? Check. And all of that is with some extremely vibrant colors you don't find in many other places for the WBC. Even the half-white side stripes on the alt work.
2. Netherlands
The Netherlands jerseys' implementation of the crown gives them a distinctive element you don't find anywhere else in the WBC. Although having things in the middle of the piping is usually a pet peeve, it accentuates these jerseys in a cool way. The hats are the piece de resistance, and the only hats to not just feature some version of lettering.
1. Japan
Honestly, this shouldn't be surprising. The reigning champs also look the best. They're the only teams not adhering to the rubric of home white and alt solid color with stripes, and they're better for it. The pinstripes are a classic look, while the red accents on the navy jersey makes them even stronger. Japan's hats are also one of the most popular for a reason. It's just a good-looking kit.
