A suspect in the double homicide of American Idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and her musician husband Thomas DeLuca has been charged.

Raymond Boodarian, a 22-year-old resident of Los Angeles' Encino neighborhood, where the crime was perpetrated, was charged after his Tuesday arrest with two counts of murder and one count of first-degree residential burglary.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman announced Thurdsay that Boodarian's burglary charge also comes with two special circumstance allegations - multiple murders, and murder during the commission of a burglary. If charged, Boodarian faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

"In a matter of moments, this couple was senselessly killed in their own home as they returned from the grocery store," Hochman said. "This tragic shooting has shaken a valley community and the notion that home should be our safe sanctuary. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their family and friends who are grieving this tremendous loss."

Kaye and DeLuca, both 70, were discovered on Monday by police after neighbors called to perform a welfare check, concerned they hadn't seen or heard from the couple for several days. Both Kaye and DeLuca were pronounced dead on the scene. Boodarian was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of the crime.

Hochman claims that Boodarian is believed to have entered Kaye and DeLuca's home on the 4700 block of White Oak Avenue through an unlocked door on or about July 10. The couple allegedly arrived home while he was burglarizing the house, prompting him to shoot them and flee.

Boodarian's arraignment has been set for Aug. 20 at the Van Nuys Courthouse.

Kaye was a career music supervisor who spent 14 seasons in American Idol's music department. She also has supervision, clearance, and consulting credits on series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Lip Sync Battle, Hollywood Game Night, and the Miss Universe pageant.

DeLuca was a prolific singer-songwriter who also wrote songs for acts like Diesel and Meredith Brooks, according to his website.
