Savannah Guthrie shared on Instagram that she's recovering after undergoing vocal cord surgery

The Today co-anchor had nodules and a polyp on her vocal cords that required removal

Guthrie announced on Dec. 19 that she would be off the air for several weeks due to the procedure

Savannah Guthrie is on the mend following surgery on her vocal cords.

The Today co-anchor, 54, posted an update to Instagram, revealing how she's covering now that her surgery is over.

"See you soon!" Guthrie captioned a photo of herself with a whiteboard that read "All good! Thanks for prayers and love!"

Savannah Guthrie is 'all good' following her vocal chord surgery

Guthrie first announced on Dec. 19 that she'd be taking some time away from Today to undergo the vocal cord surgery in the new year.

She explained on air that she had nodules and a polyp that needed removal, and after the procedure, she'd have to be on vocal rest during recovery (hence her new mode of communication: the whiteboard!)

"Some of you have noticed that my voice has been very scratchy and started to crack a little bit," Guthrie shared. "Well, I have found out what it is. I have vocal nodules and I also have a polyp. It's not a big, big deal, but I am going to have to have a surgery in the new year and be off for a couple of weeks, so this is my last day for a little while."

Guthrie joked that some viewers might think she had "the world's longest head cold," but instead she said she's "really excited" to finally have some answers and a way forward. "This has been going on for years, honestly," she shared.

One downside to the surgery is that Guthrie has to be "totally silent" for a couple of weeks, which she joked meant, "Christmas coming early for my family."

Sheinelle Jones noted that she, too, had gone through the same surgery — and shared a little bit of the bright side. "The silver lining is you have permission to be still," she shared. "The house gets quiet, the kids are gonna want to help you out."

She then gave Guthrie the whiteboard, wrapped in a red bow, that she used to "speak" as she recovered. "A lot of the greats have done it, maybe you'll come out singing like, I don't know, Celine Dion," Jones joked.

"Well, you know, it's really funny, I used to sing," Guthrie said. "Then I couldn't sing anymore and then I couldn't speak anymore. So who knows, guys the tour is happening in 2026."
