- - Niall Horan on His Stellar Record Winning 'The Voice' Three Out of Three Times

When the votes were tallied, The Voice host Carson Daly announced that the winner of Season 28 was Aiden Ross whose coach was Niall Horan. Aiden’s victory marked Niall’s unprecedented third consecutive championship, cementing his undefeated legacy with an exclusive three-peat win.

“It's amazing,” Niall tells Parade. “I've been so lucky with the artists that I've gotten to work with on the show. That's been a big one – from Gina [Miles] to Huntley to Aiden -- it's been incredible. The teams that I've been able to curate over the three seasons that I've been here have just been incredible, and America's just been so good to us. They've really stood up when we needed them and voted me the winner three times.”

Of course, Niall himself has experience competing in a singing competition. He was a contestant on the British version of The X Factor in 2010. He auditioned as a solo artist but was later teamed up by Simon Cowell with Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik to form One Direction. They didn’t win The X Factor, but they did become one of the most successful boy bands in history.

“I don't know if that's why I won, but I do think it helps," Niall says. "I was a few years younger than Aiden when I was on a show like this. It's something that I've navigated through before, picking songs week on week, performances, being prepared, being around the cameras all the time, being in the bubble that is the show, which can be a scary thing. I think being there for them first of all, from that point of view, it's something that I have over some of the other coaches maybe. I can't sing like any of these guys but to be around this sort of environment, I've done before and I feel like I can help.”

That said, part of what has made Niall so successful is the fact that he wins so many four-chair turns to his team. In the Blind Auditions, it’s not up to the coaches, but rather the artists who decide which team they join.

Aiden tells Parade why he chose to join Team Niall: “It was a hard decision. I was standing in front of four legends, but Niall was the youngest, so I thought, I just knew, he would be like a big brother to me and just have an instant connection. I envy the music that he's made. I really do listen to it and I'm honestly just a fan.”

It was definitely a smart decision as it made both of them winners.
