- - Nathan Fillion Confirms Villain Oscar's Return in 'The Rookie' Season 8

The Rookie star Nathan Fillion (Nolan) has teased the return of one of the show’s biggest villains, Oscar (Matthew Glave).

Oscar has been a thorn in Nolan’s side since the first season of The Rookie. In fact, the last time fans saw Oscar, he kidnapped Nolan before going on the run again after his latest prison escape.

Now with Season 8 of The Rookie in full swing, Fillion has revealed Nolan’s nemesis will be back this season.

“Nolan does not like Oscar and Nolan does not want to give Oscar the benefit of the doubt. He knows Oscar too well,” Fillion told TV Insider, adding that when Oscar resurfaces, Nolan’s response is “Oh, man, this guy.”

For Fillion, having Oscar on set can be challenging, but not because of the on-screen dynamic with Nolan and Oscar. It’s because of Glave.

“It’s such a tricky thing because Matty who plays Oscar, Matthew Glave, he is incredibly charming. He’s never not charming,” he stated.

There’s also the fact that Oscar has a way of being charming, which, as Fillion declares, makes Nolan and others forget sometimes just how diabolical he is.

“We’re tricked into thinking that we like him, but we don’t. We like to hate him. He’s a terrible human being. He is a psychotic human being. He does not care about anyone except himself,” the actor spilled.

Fillion didn’t give any spoilers away regarding when or how The Rookie will bring Oscar back into the fold. However, fans have come to know over the past seven seasons that Oscar will pop up at the worst time possible for the Mid-Wilshire crew, but at the best time possible for him.

Ahead of the Season 8 premiere,The Rookie creator Alexi Hawley confirmed that Oscar will return to torment Nolan and others, but fans will have to watch to find out when it happens.

The Rookie airs Mondays at 10/9c on ABC.
