Ashlyn Doucet and Austin Holmes got engaged in Dallas on Feb. 27
The following day, Holmes surprised Doucet — who is the ultimate Belieber — in full Justin Bieber costume with a flash mob set to the singer's biggest hits
"I was in complete shock," the bride-to-be tells PEOPLE
A woman became one less lonely girl when her fiancé surprised her with a Justin Bieber-themed flash mob proposal.
Since elementary school, Ashlyn Doucet has been "the biggest Belieber." From a life-sized cardboard cutout and a singing toothbrush to a pillowcase and posters, Doucet had it all. Now 27, Doucet's love for Bieber still runs deep, as she's remained in the "top 0.01%" of the singer's listeners almost every year on Spotify Wrapped.
Doucet's fiancé, Austin Holmes, knows who her first love has always been, so since he couldn't book the pop star himself, he did the next best thing: dressed up as Bieber and recruited their friends for a surprise flash mob dance to a medley of his songs.

Holmes, 34, first popped the question to Doucet on the rooftop of the Canvas Hotel in Dallas on Friday, Feb. 27. The next day, he surprised her at a park in Dallas with the flash mob proposal.
"I was in complete shock," Doucet tells PEOPLE. "Because I had just experienced such a beautiful rooftop proposal the night before, I did not at all expect this."
Footage of flash mob performance went viral on TikTok, with the video gaining 1.3 million views and nearly 300,000 likes. "All my life I've said I wanted a flash mob for a proposal... but I'm hard to surprise. The day AFTER the most beautiful rooftop proposal, I thought I was on the way to my own engagement party," Doucet wrote in an onscreen text overlay. She added in the caption, "Truly the most iconic man, friends, and moment of my entire life."
In the video, Holmes and Doucet's closest friends and their partners danced to a medley of Bieber's biggest hits —"One Less Lonely Girl," "Beauty and a Beat," and "Somebody to Love." Holmes was dressed head-to-toe in teen Bieber style with white skinny jeans, a purple hoodie, and a backward purple baseball cap — a nod to an iconic 2010 concert outfit.
"As soon as I heard 'One Less Lonely Girl' I busted out laughing, thinking we were about to have our 'One Less Lonely Girl' moment like Justin used to do on stage," Doucet tells PEOPLE. "When I started seeing people jump out from behind trees I went into another wave of shock because that's how I found out that some of my friends were even in town!"

The bride-to-be continues, "I bounced between having so much fun singing and dancing to some of my favorite songs, shock of what was happening, the hilariousness of it all, complete and utter euphoria of having all of my favorite people together being so extra like I love to be, and overwhelmed with gratitude at the thought of how much time and effort went into this!"
Doucet says she's always wanted a flash mob for a proposal because "there’s something so joyful and communal about a grand gesture."
"I’ve always believed life deserves to be celebrated wholeheartedly!" she shares. "I’m also a huge birthday girl, not just for myself but for everyone I love! When I was younger, I used to make my family watch Disney World flash mob proposals on YouTube in the living room because I thought they were so iconic and the energy of it all was so intoxicating even through a screen!"

The idea for the flash mob was born in December. At the time, a group of Doucet's friends who knew she was getting proposed to soon were at a concert together and "came up with a game plan." Doucet explains, "[They] started recruiting and choreographing the whole thing. By the time my fiancé reached out to them to tell them his plan and bring them in, they had already been cooking in the kitchen."
In mid-January, a Google Drive was shared with all participants. In the folder was a welcome video, a step-by-step instructional choreography video, and the self-cut music. For about two months, all participants — who were in both Dallas and Louisiana —practiced on their own. On the day of the performance there was a rehearsal in the morning, and another one two hours before the big surprise.
"Truly I have the greatest and most intentional man and best friends ever," Doucet says.
