The road to the 2026 Oscars has been a, well, battle between One Battle After Another and Sinners, with both movies taking home top prizes at various ceremonies. But Hamnet, Frankenstein, Bugonia, Marty Supreme, Train Dreams, F1, and the international titles Sentimental Value and The Secret Agent have all been strong contenders, earning honors along the way as well.

Marty Supreme star Timothée Chalamet led the Best Actor race early, but momentum has shifted to Sinners' Michael B. Jordan. Hamnet star Jessie Buckley, on the other hand, has been the frontrunner from the moment that movie debuted at Telluride and has maintained her position all season long.

In the supporting categories, actor has gone a few ways, between Frankenstein's Jacob Elordi, Sentimental Value star and beloved industry veteran Stellan Skarsgård, and One Battle's menacing Sean Penn, who has taken home the two most important predictors for this category, the BAFTA and the Actor Award (previously known as the SAG Award). In the Supporting Actress race, Weapons star Amy Madigan has emerged as the favorite after an important win at the Actor Awards, but Sinners' Wunmi Mosaku took the top prize at the BAFTAs. And then there's One Battle's Teyana Taylor, who had early momentum and took home the Golden Globe.
