While exclusively chatting with PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of her new psychological thriller series, Imperfect Women, on Tuesday, March 10, Washington, 49, shared what she and her husband, 44, commit to doing to sustain a healthy relationship.
"Couples therapy. I love it. I'm obsessed with couples therapy," Washington tells PEOPLE. "We just put it all out there and do the work."

While Washington and Asomugha were not photographed walking the carpet together, Asomugha was at the event to support his wife. Less than two weeks ago on Saturday, Feb. 28, the pair also stepped out at the 2026 NAACP Image Awards in Pasadena, California.
The couple — who tend to keep their relationship private — tied the knot in an ultra-secret wedding in Idaho in June 2013, four years after they met.
Washington and Asomugha welcomed their first child together, 11-year-old daughter Isabelle, in 2014, and their second child, 9-year-old son Caleb, two years later. The Scandal star is also stepmother to Asomugha's teenage daughter from a previous relationship.

Exclusively speaking to PEOPLE in June 2024, Washington explained why she keeps her relationship and her children out of the spotlight.
"I think just from the very beginning, Nnamdi and I have been really protective of our partnership and our relationship, because we wanted it to belong to us, and we found that we were able to define and create a relationship for ourselves and with each other outside of the public eye," she said.
The actress continued, "And I think in many ways, we just want to give our kids that same opportunity to define a life for themselves and to enter the public space in their own way."
