The Best Actress nominee is the frontrunner tonight after winning the category at the Critics Choice Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and Actor Awards.
Buckley made her Oscar debut in 2022.
Fresh off her Actor Awards win earlier this month, Hamnet’s Jessie Buckley arrived at the Academy Awards in one of her most stunning looks of the entire 2026 awards season. The Best Actress nominee wore an off-the-shoulder red and pink gown by Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel, accessorizing with a diamond necklace and earrings. She wore a matching red lip and kept her blond hair neatly tucked behind her ears.

Buckley is a favorite to win tonight after the Hamnet star took home the best actress award at the Critics Choice Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and Actor Awards earlier this year.
The star was one of ELLE’s 2025 Women in Hollywood honorees. In her interview, she shared how she prepared to film the movie’s touching finale scene. “I had no idea where I was going to go,” she said. “And being lost was part of it. I remember thinking, ‘Actually, maybe it’s deeply human to be lost. And if I can let them see that, then so be it.’ The humanity is a person who’s trying to find themselves in a moment where they’re totally broken. It’s a mess being a human.”
She also addressed the movie’s overall message on grief and love: “I love love,” she said. “Love is worth it. What else are you going to do? Lock yourself away? I think you’ve got to live. Hamnet, even though he dies, lives on. [His father, William] Shakespeare [played by Paul Mescal] has made something immortal in some way and created a way for this story, this son, this thing that happened in his life to be bigger than the moment. Maybe we have to live like that.”
