Angel Garet, Craig Geoghan, and Rustin Sailors on Hallmark Chanel's 'Finding Mr. Christmas' season 2

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the season 2 finale of Finding Mr. Christmas. If you don't want to know who wins, stop reading now!

Ho-ho-hold on to your reindeer, because the Hallmark Channel has crowned its newest Mr. Christmas. The Finding Mr. Christmas season 2 finale began with just three remaining hunks (Craig Geoghan, Angel Garet, and Rustin Sailors) still vying for the coveted crown and the starring role in a Hallmark holiday film that came with it.

But after acting through the gauntlet of a complicated three-shot set-up scene (complete with a big on-screen smooch with Hallmark star Erin Krakow), only one would emerge with the title. In the end, host Jonathan Bennett broke the big news that Criag was the newest Mr. Christmas.

Craig experienced both highs (multiple Star Quality challenge wins) and lows (twice ending up in the bottom two, including after his rapping talent show performance). He was told he needed to show more depth and vulnerability in his work, which is exactly what Craig did en route to his big win.

And what did Craig win exactly? A starring role in Hallmark’s A Make or Break Holiday (airing Dec. 20 at 8pm ET/PT), where he will re-team with Finding Mr. Christmas guest star Hunter King. We spoke to the newly minted winner about his FMC journey and got the details about his upcoming movie and that big finale kiss, along with maybe, just maybe, one more holiday rap.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Congratulations! But am I talking now to Craig or to Santini?

CRAIG GEOGHAN: Right now you're talking to Craig. Santini was hot at the beginning of the show, but we've come a long way since then. So this is Craig now.

What’s it like when Jonathan says your name as the next Mr. Christmas?

I was incredibly nervous. Every single elimination is intense. It looks intense when you're watching it on TV, but it's 10 times more intense when you're in that room. You could feel all of the nerves radiating off the other guys. You could feel your nerves radiating off onto them. And then when he finally called my name, obviously I was incredibly thrilled, but the first feeling that I had was just such a sense of relief.

If you notice the first reaction I had was kind of just [exhales]. It was almost like a deep breath. A sense of relief, a big sigh. And then the emotions kind of hit me after that.

As the show began to unfold this season, who did you think was your biggest competition?

Angel for sure was someone who stood out. I thought that Robbie was definitely a contender, having had a lot of experience doing this in the past. Rustin is another one who, it's evident that he's done this for a long time. So I would say those three guys really stood out. It’s evident to the viewer that they were great choices as well. It could have been anyone, and I'm just happy it was me. But those three, as the competition went along, really stood out.

You won a few Star Quality challenges, but you were also twice in the bottom two, for the talent show competition and the Sharon Lawrence scene. Did you ever think you might be going home?

I thought that it was possible that I was going home in episode 4 when I was in the bottom two after the talent show. Which is funny because going into the talent show, I was like, “I've got this in the bag! My talent's definitely gonna be fun, entertaining!” [Laughs]

So I was super confident, but then I landed in the bottom two and I think my first time being down there overwhelmed me a bit and all the feelings just came flooding in, like, “This is it for me. I'm done. I'm in the bottom two, I'm going home.”

But then in the episode with Sharon being in the bottom two, I actually felt a bit better. I still wasn't sure because I was down there with Marcus and Marcus was great as well. But I felt so connected with Sharon and I was like, “There's no way that this is the one that I'm going home on. This one felt too good.” But earlier in this season, not so much.

Tell me about preparing for the big kiss with Erin Krakow for your last scene, because the entire competition could hinge on that kiss.

I was the first one on TV to kiss Erin in the taping. So I was happy I got to kiss her first — no Rustin or Angel cooties. But that's all just part of the work. I've had to do that a bunch of times in the past. Erin is such a pro, I didn't even think twice about that part of the scene, to be completely honest. It was more so about the connection with her and the intensity that I'm looking for with her.

So that's more what I was focused on. The kiss, that's just part of the work. That's really not anything that is a big deal to me anymore. At first, it was something in my career that I had to kind of get used to and get over. But thankfully now with pros like that, it's a piece of cake.

Well, for us non-pros that are sitting there watching, how does that work between you and a scene partner in terms of determining how hard to go in on that kiss?

There's still that aspect of it. It's just not as awkward as it once was. You approach it exactly like how you just did with me. I went up to Erin and I said, “I know you've done this a hundred times before, but obviously there's a kiss in the scene. What are you comfortable with? What are you not comfortable with? How intense should we make this?”

It's a collaborative effort between her and I, and for her, she does this in her sleep even more so than me. So it was really pretty easy and you just have a conversation about it. A lot of times ,there'll be intimacy coordinators on set these days as well, which is pretty cool, to keep everybody safe and happy. And so all of that in combination with each other, it made for a very seamless experience.

Let’s talk about your big prize. What can you tell me about your Hallmark movie, A Make or Break Holiday?

It's amazing, man. We got to shoot that in Vancouver maybe a month and a half after the wrapping of Finding Mr. Christmas. And it's funny shooting a holiday movie when it's, you know, 75 degrees outside. And what an unbelievable cast and crew. I'm still in touch with all of them. It was truly like a family.

Tell me about your role in the movie.

My character's name is Reid, and I am actually Hunter's character’s brother in the movie, which works well because I played her brother on Finding Mr. Christmas as well. And so my character and one of the other characters almost relationship trap Hunter and Evan Roderick’s characters to get them back together. And we do it in secrecy as well.

My character is just total knucklehead. He is getting bossed around by grandma throughout the entire movie. I'm almost like a pawn in her game, but there are so many opportunities for comedy throughout it for me. Going through Finding Mr. Christmas was like a bootcamp, so it got me ready for that, and I think it's going to go over really well. So I'm excited.

Do you think they knew being Hunter’s brother was going to be the winner’s role when they had you all play her brother on FMC?

I don't think that that was pre-planned. However, when Hunter and I clicked the way we did, it maybe sparked an idea because that was the scene where I really started to hit a second and third gear in the show. Episode 5 is when I kind of turned it up all the way through the finale. And so they maybe saw that and went with it.

It also helps that we kind of look alike. Hunter and I took a selfie together on set in Canada, and we were like, “Wow, this is pretty convincing.” I sent it to my actual sister and she's like, “Are you replacing me right now?” I think that maybe the idea for us to be siblings came from the show for sure.

Finally, since I know you’re a rapper and a freestyler, can you break me off a few bars about winning Finding Mr. Christmas?

Thanks for this interview, you're not gonna wanna miss this. Sitting right here with Finding Mr. Christmas. Happy to be sitting right here, so Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
