Erin Napier is sharing her reaction to watching herself on this weekās episode of Home Town in a vulnerable social media post.
The HGTV star, 40, got candid about the topic of aging and reflected on what's changed after being on TV for āa decade nowā in a Jan. 12 Instagram post. Her message comes after Sundayās new episode of the home renovation show she stars on with her husband, Ben Napier.
āI watched last nightās episode for the first time just like yāall do. Last night, as I watched I noticed the way age is changing me,ā Erin begins in the caption.
She continues, āI noticed my hair, half wavy, half flat, evidence of abandoning my hair styling at the 4 minute mark because I would rather make pancakes for the girls before leaving for work instead of staring at myself in the mirror worrying what you, viewer, might feel about the way I look.ā

Erin adds that while she ānoticedā changes in her appearance as she watched the episode, what matters to her most is how sheās showing up for her and Benās daughters, she says.
āAnd I noticed my arms, that used to be thinner, and I smiled at the thought of how Mae mutters that I am āthe softest mommy in the worldā when she pushes her face into me as she falls asleep,ā she says of her 4-year-old daughter. She also shares daughter Helen, 7, with Ben.
She begins to wrap up her message by stating frankly that she doesnāt care as much about what people think of her appearance as much after years of being on camera.
āI have been on TV for a decade now, and years ago I cared more what the viewer might think,ā the mom of two explains. āOh but these days Iām the softest mommy, who makes the pancakes and wrinkles up my forehead worrying if we did enough reading today.ā
āI have decided itās delicious and comforting to be rebellious about our vanity,ā Erin concludes. āWe canāt care about everything, mamas!ā
This isnāt the first time Erin has reflected on the topic of getting older.
Ahead of her 40th birthday this past August, Erin opened up about deciding not to care about her āforehead wrinklesā as her milestone birthday approached.
āYāall, are we out here caring about forehead wrinkles? Iām turning 40 this month and I think⦠we should all decide we donāt care,ā she wrote on her Instagram Stories Aug. 4, alongside a smiley face emoji.
Erinās caption was written over a close-up selfie of her face, seemingly without any filters and minimal or no makeup.

āWe started homeschooling,ā Ben previously told PEOPLE. āThe kids. And weāre doing it. [Every time] when we say it, people are like, āOh, did you hire a tutor?ā And weāre like, āNo, weāre the tutors.āā
āHomeschooling. Itās not a non-negotiable, itās what weāre trying this year," Erin added. "But theyāve never had devices, theyāve never held phones or tablets or iPads. Weāre trying to live like itās our childhood again."
