- *Emily in Paris *season 5 hit Netflix on Thursday, Dec. 18.

- The new episodes find Emily adjusting to her new life in Rome.

- Michèle Laroque, Bryan Greenberg, and Minnie Driver are among the new cast members.

Emily Cooper is (still) living her best life on *Emily in Paris*.

Season 5 of the Netflix hit looks and feels noticeably different from what came before. This time around, Lily Collins' starry-eyed striver is setting up shop in Rome.

"But just as everything falls into place, a work idea backfires, and the fallout cascades into heartbreak and career setbacks," a synopsis teases. "Seeking stability, Emily leans into her French lifestyle until a big secret threatens one of her closest relationships."

As Emily faces changes in both her professional and romantic life in Italy, the series introduces a handful of new characters into the mix. Here's a closer look at the cast members joining *Emily in Paris* season 5.

Michèle Laroque as Yvette

Veteran actress Michèle Laroque has appeared in numerous productions in her native France, from *Pédale douce* (1996) and *Ma vie en rose *(1997) to *The Closet* (2001), and *Brillantissime* (2018).

Now, Laroque joins *Emily in Paris *season 5 as Yvette, an old friend of Emily's boss, Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu). Casting the character, however, proved to be quite the challenge.

"It's complicated because actresses of that generation tend to have a certain look and it was difficult to find someone available who could work well with Philippine," said casting director Juliette Ménager in a chat with *Variety*. "But suddenly I thought of Michelle, who speaks English fluently and is such a good actress — she’s got that perfect comedic timing. Then I had to sell the idea to Darren and the rest of the team who didn't know her and they loved her right away, like Philippine."

Laroque eventually landed the part, and even earned high praise from creator Darren Star, who called her work on the season "fantastic."

Bryan Greenberg as Jake

Bryan Greenberg has spent much of his career on TV, first gaining recognition for playing Jake Jagielski, a beloved teen dad on *One Tree Hill *(2003–2006). He went on to appear on a range of shows, including* The Mindy Project* (2016–2017)*, How to Make It in America *(2010–2011), and the short-lived *Suits *spinoff, *Suits LA *(2025).

On the big screen, Greenberg has appeared in movies like *Friends with Benefits *(2011) and *You People *(2023). He also wrote, directed, and starred in the thriller *Junction *(2024).

In *Emily in Paris *season 5, Greenberg plays Jake, an American consular officer stationed in Paris with an eye for Emily.

After earning an Academy Award nomination for her performance in *Good Will Hunting *(1997), Minnie Driver went on to a long, varied career in lavish musicals (*The Phantom of the Opera*), Disney fairytales (*Cinderella*), romantic dramas (*Beyond the Lights*), and cuckoo action fare (*The Beekeeper*).

TV fans may recall Driver's Emmy-nominated turn on *The Riches *(2007–2008), as well as her starring roles on *About a Boy *(2014–2015) and *Speechless *(2016–2019). Her next small-screen adventure is the Netflix thriller *Run Away*, which premieres on Jan. 1, 2026.

Here, Driver steps into the role of Princess Jane, one of Sylvie's friends who married into royalty and reinvented herself as an influencer.

"Minnie just gets this kind of character," creator Star told *The New York Times*. "She knows how to make someone outrageous, glamorous, and still completely human."

In an interview with PEOPLE, Driver described Princess Jane as a "bit of a manipulator" and someone who is always "working an angle." She even joked that Princess Jane might even be related to Lorraine Finster, the character she played on *Will & Grace*. "I just feel like maybe there's some weird familial connection."

Calling her experience on *Emily in Paris* "pretty sensational," she said, "It's because you are jumping on a moving train, and it's also a train that has been going for a long time."
