Brooke Lee stars in Chevrolet's newest commercial

The rising country star shares her own take on the iconic "See the USA in Your Chevrolet" jingle

The automaker flew Lee, her guitar, and the truck to the top of Castle Rock in Utah to film the spot

It would be easy to assume that the new Chevrolet commercial starring budding country music star Brooke Lee had to be made with the use of artificial intelligence.

But no — she, her guitar and a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 were really nearly 400 feet above the desert floor.

"I'm an adrenaline junkie," says Lee, 26, in an interview with PEOPLE. "I always say I want the coolest story at the dinner table, and I definitely have one now."

The North Carolina native will most certainly have a story to tell about her excursion to the top of Castleton Tower (also lovingly known as Castle Rock) in Utah to film Chevrolet’s first of a series of commercials celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.

"I remember driving up and seeing Castle Rock for the first time, and that's when it really hit me," says Lee. "I had seen videos and pictures of the past commercials but then seeing it right in front of you — it was huge."

While it was Lee's first time to the top of the towering sandstone spire, it wasn’t Chevrolet's. The automaker has now featured Castleton Tower in its commercials three times, each time flying both the vehicle and talent to the summit — no A.I. needed.

"I've never been on a helicopter before, but that’s how I got up there," says Lee, who spent her 26th birthday in January finishing filming the soon-to-be unforgettable commercial. "My adrenaline was just kicking in, so I was more excited than anything."

And while the weather cooperated for the most part during the shooting of the commercial, the conditions at that altitude made things a little dicier.

"It was freezing and the wind was crazy," says Lee, who moved to Nashville in 2021. "My white dress was just flowing everywhere, but it was awesome. Not many people have been able to stand there before, so I tried to take it all in. Just sitting up there and watching the sun come up around us was epic."

As special as the commercial is, so too is the song that Lee sings in it, as it is the same one that Dinah Shore famously sang in the 1950s. "I called my grandparents and told them what was going on and they knew every word to the song," says Lee of putting a modern country spin on the legendary jingle "See the USA in Your Chevrolet." "I knew it was something very iconic after doing my research."

It wasn’t until one of the last takes that Lee says she got a little nervous singing the famous song. "They had me just sing it a capella and hold the guitar and I was like asking myself, 'Girl, you got this?'" she remembers.

It was an empowering moment nevertheless — especially given that past Chevrolet commercials atop Castleton Tower had featured models, rather than musicians.

"I kept thinking, what did the prior women think when they were sitting up here and how did they feel?" says Lee. "It was just a huge honor to be able to be up there."

Exclusively premiering on PEOPLE, the TV commercial will also run during the Winter Olympics opening ceremonies and during the pregame of the Super Bowl. And certainly, the commercial is yet another piece of what already looks to be a breakout year for Lee, who has toured alongside artists such as Willie Nelson and Gavin DeGraw in the past and recently released her single "Burn to Black."

"We were recording the last song on my upcoming EP when we found out this Chevrolet opportunity was on the table," says Lee. "Everything just felt like it went very hand in hand."

Perhaps the coolest part of the whole experience?

"We got the truck that you see in the commercial on Castle Rock," says Lee. "That’s what we're taking out on tour with us. That's my favorite thing about touring — just being on the road and traveling and seeing places. And I love so much that this is going to encourage other people to go do that."
