This Taylor Sheridan-produced series follows a New York City family navigating grief in the Madison River valley of central Montana
Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, Patrick J. Adams and Matthew Fox all star in the show
Taylor Sheridan's latest Western family drama is almost here.
Previously named 2024, Paramount confirmed The Madison back in August 2024. It was later revealed that Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell would star in the lead roles of the series, described as "a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana."
The Madison comes off the heels of three Yellowstone spinoff shows, 1883, 1923 and Marshals, while others that have been greenlit include 6666 and 1944. Sheridan's original show came to an end in December 2024.
Though The Madison doesn't appear to be directly related to the Dutton Ranch, it is within the greater Yellowstone universe. The first three episodes will be released on Paramount+ on March 14, with the final three episodes dropping on March 21.
Russell revealed in a January 2026 interview with Entertainment Weekly that they decided to shoot two seasons of The Madison due to the actor's scheduling conflicts.

According to the official synopsis, The Madison is Sheridan's "most intimate work to date" and will follow a New York family who settle in the Madison River valley of central Montana.
Though it was originally pegged as a sequel series to Yellowstone, director Christina Alexandra Voros told Variety in November 2024 that The Madison is "such a different story."
"The common ground is the landscape," she explained. "We are in Montana, but it is seen through a completely different lens, so it feels like another facet of this cut stone that has been polished."
She continued, "There are parallels in the scope of landscape and a human being’s place in that space, but it’s coming at it from a completely different point of view."

Per The Hollywood Reporter, when The Madison was first announced, it was set to take place after the events of Yellowstone.
The show was meant to continue the Dutton family story with the introduction of new characters as well as retaining some old ones. However, it now appears to be a standalone story focusing on an entirely new family within the Yellowstone universe.

Paramount Network announced Pfeiffer to be helming the lead role of Stacy Clyburn in The Madison in August 2024 while also producing the show.
“Michelle Pfeiffer is a remarkable talent who imbues every role with emotional depth, authenticity and grace," Chris McCarthy, the co-CEO of Paramount Global and President/CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement.
“She is the perfect anchor to the newest chapter of the Yellowstone universe, Madison, from the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan,” he added.
The following week, Paramount Network confirmed Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Beau Garrett and Amiah Miller will be joining the cast of The Madison. Adams and Chapman will play young married couple Russell and Paige McIntosh, who are wealthy New Yorkers, while Garrett will be Abigail Reese, a recently divorced mother of two. Miller is Bridgett, Abigail's older daughter.
Meanwhile, Russell plays Stacy’s husband, Preston Clyburn.
Will Arnett has a guest-starring role on the show as New York City-based therapist Phil Yorn, per Deadline. Other cast members include Alaina Pollack, Ben Schnetzer, Kevin Zegers, Rebecca Spence, Danielle Vasinova and Matthew Fox.
Is there a trailer for The Madison?
Yes, the trailer for The Madison dropped in February 2026, weeks ahead of its March 14 premiere.
The clip opens with Stacy and Preston talking on the phone, while she is seemingly in N.Y.C. Though the events are unclear, it appears that Pfeiffer's character is grieving as she attempts to embrace life in Big Sky Country.
"Memories, it's like a movie we can play it over and over to revisit all those times we did have together — all the talks, all the laughs, all the hugs," she says in a voiceover.
At one point, Stacy admits that her family isn't "designed to withstand tragedy," and she's seen wading into a lake, where she collapses in tears.
